6th Ward International Social Aid & Pleasure Club –

The founding meeting of the 6th Ward International Social Aid & Pleasure Club was held tonight at the 420 Café in Amsterdam with Aldo Andrews from New Orleans presiding and Glen David Andrews (trombone & vocals), Terrence Andrews (bass drum & cymbal), Bennie Pete (tuba), Big Al Alvarez (trumpet) and Little Sam (snare drum & cymbal) in attendance, along with John Richardson and Amsterdam initiates Larry Hayden, Henk Botwinik, Andy Adkins, William Bell, Steve Dumach, Dr Dorothy Goodman, Juriann Mensch, Clelia , and Michael & Diana Veling in the house as well. The proceedings were recorded and preserved by Radio Free Amsterdam, with recorded music from Treme by Glen David Andrews & the Lazy 6, High Steppers Brass Band, Soul Rebels, and the Lil’ Rascals Brass Band, and a live performance by the 6th Ward Brass Band and special guests Dr Dorothy Goodman & John Sinclair.
