Irsquo;m back in Detroit for the spring season after a month in the South that was not much warmer than this, but I left a trail of radio shows made during my travels. Now Irsquo;m serving as Poet in Residence at the Bohemian National Home for the next six weeks and for the first program here I invited Holice P. Woods, Shaun McDonald, and Light Show Bob of the Trans-Love Energies Compassionate Care Collective to hear about their plans to open a medical marijuana distribution center in Detroit. Then therersquo;s music from the Motor City by Yusef Lateef  His Men, Joe Weaver, John Sinclair  His Motor City Blues Scholars, Pat in the Hat, early Detroit Cobras, very early MC-5, Johnnie Bassett ldquo;liverdquo; at the 420 Party, Jr. Walker  the All Stars at the Ann Arbor Blues  Jazz Festival, Thornetta Davis at the late lamented Music Menu, and the dearly departed Lyman Woodard  his Organization.

This weekrsquo;s program took us to the fantastic Opal Flyrsquo;s Feel Good Lounge in downtown Fayetteville, Arkansas, for a concert with David Kimbrough, Opal Fly and her band, the Pope County Bootleggers, and after the show I sat Opal down with her husband and collaborator, Foxfire Fly, to mine some information about their crazy little trip out here in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and play some music by Opal Fly, Hubert Sumlin, Thomas Houston Jones, John Sinclair  His Mississippi Blues Scholars with the late great Jim Dickinson on piano, plus the Arkansan musical giant Louis Jordan, David Kimbrough  the Juke Joint Boys, and Junior Kimbrough himself.
