Common Ground Radio Workshop 2008 on the Air
After missing last year’s session I was back at Common Ground on the Hill at McDaniel College in Westminster MD and helping conduct the Radio Production Workshop with Cary Wolfson (the Red Rooster) and Mike Atherton, our indefatigable engineer and technical director for the class, which had about 10 participants this year, most of high school age. Over the series of five 90-minute sessions we got the kids involved in creating and recording segments for the one-hour radio program we would produce out of their efforts, and then worked with them on the editing process and assembled this episode for Radio Free Amsterdam featuring music by Common Ground faculty members La Gilmore, Scott Ainslie, Sparky Rucker and Mike Baytop, and by student participants Gahdiliel, Phil Speiss, Emmanuel Ortiz and Emily Rosenthal, along with conversations among students Maria Marquez, Vaughn Sewell, Beverly Williamson, Jacinta Garcia and Jesus Martinez.
