Interview with M.L. and R.J.
Yesterday I drove from Detroit to Batesville, Indiana to perform with M.L. Liebler, R.J. Spangler and Jeff Reynolds at the Public Library there, and today we drove on to Wittenberg, Illinois for a performance at the Pheasant Hollow Winery under the auspices of Professor Peggy Davis of Rend Lake College in nearby Ina. I took the opportunity to interview M.L. and R.J. about their energetic participation in contemporary artistic and cultural life for this episode of the radio show and played music from M.L. Liebler & the Magic Poetry Band’s new CD featuring saxophonist Faruq Z. Bey, R.J.’s current little big band project called Planet D, selected R.J. Spangler productions on Alberta Adams, Johnnie Bassett, and Joe Weaver, and a closing selection by John Sinclair & His Blues Scholars featuring Wayne Kramer.
