This week Juan Carlos and I are celebrating the birthday of the great African American pianist, composer & bandleader, Thelonious Monk, at the Bohemian National Home with a program of music from the classic period of Monk’s recording career, between 1947-1957, including Blue Note, Prestige and Riverside masters and the closing cut from the historic 1957 Riverside recordings of Thelonious Monk & John Coltrane, plus verse tributes to Monk by John Sinclair & His Motor City Blues Scholars.
