This week we’re celebrating the holiday season at my home base, the 420 Café in the Centruum, with a program of special weirdness and Christmas selections contributed by Krown Washington Batiste, Charles Mingus, The Black Pope, Yusef Lateef, Rev. Jack Van Impe, John Sinclair & His Blues Scholars, Dr. John, Lord Buckley, Johnny Guarnieri, the Howlin’ Diablos, Codie Prevost, Billy Davis, Thornetta Davis, and—in honor of the New Orleans Saints’ 13-0 record in the NFL, and as a failed prayer for No. 14—a brand new cut by Kenny Claiborne & Dr. Prof. Barry Kaiser recorded “live” at the Apple Barrel on Frenchmen Street in the Faubourg Marigny last Sunday, plus Coolbone in to kick the extra point at the end, and a final salvo from Professor Longhair, born December 19, 1918 in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
