Mike Boulan’s No Cover Records was founded in 1993 and in 15 years has documented a vast array of Detroit blues artists and issued their recordings in a long series of CDs now totaling almost 100 albums, available at www.nocover.net. I was in Mike’s No Cover Studio making my new record, THE DETROIT ALBUM, and wanted to get him to talk about his intrepid undertaking. Holice P. Wood was in the house, and we listened to No Cover recordings from albums issued (or soon to be issued) by Willie D. Warren, Little Junior Cannady, James Glass & the Get to Gettin’ Band, Johnnie Bassett & the Blues Insurgents, Jeff Grand, John Sinclair & His Blues Scholars, and the Chris Canas Blues Revolution. We shared some opening tokes from Michigan-grown stock as well.
