Radio Marigny, New Orleans –
Monday, October 15, 2007 at 9:30-10:30 pm [20-0732]
When I lived in New Orleans (1991-2003) I was a member for some time of the Monday Night Orchestra, an informal jam band made up of professionals and amateurs that first met every week at Dr. Professor Barry Kaiser’s pad at 1228 Decatur Street and then kept up its activities at various sites all the way up to the present day. Two key members—Bob Bass and Warren Spottswood—have passed away, others have mioved on to other pursuits, but the core group meets now at Kenny Claiborne’s Music Shack at the corner of Chartres and Frenchmen and continues to carry on, playing favorites from the rock repertoire and the occasional original. I sat in with them on Monday, October 15, 2007 and recorded the proceedings for this episode of the John Sinclair Radio Show on my little Olympus 320A digital recorder. We talked about the days right after the Flood of 2005 when Kenny Claiborne played records out the window onto the street, calling this service Radio Marigny, and we decided to revive it for this Joint Production.

Great fun. John Flemming is a high school friend from Detroit and my guide to New Orleans. Keep it coming.
Wow! What a surprise to hear this, like a time capsule. I just wish I was more aware of what was going on so my “editorial” comments didn’t get in the way of what John was trying to do. I’m honored to be included in his efforts. Thanks John, we love you my brother, and man, I don’t know what is in the air over there in Amsterdam, but you were the picture of health that night you showed up.
