Recently a Coachman fan,“DJ in Mt. This is the third installment with music by Joe Hunter, Albert Collins, Louis Jordan, Nolan Strutt, Clarence Carter, and several contemporary blues numbers by a series of Unidentified Artists.

I hosted the show before Coachman from midnight to 2:00 am during 1989-91 and became very good friends with the veteran deejay, record man and blues promoter, the proprietor of Coachman’s Records at 9222 Charlevoix on the far east side of the city. One of his steady listeners, “DJ in Mt. Clemens,” contacted me recently and then sent a batch of Coachman cassettes he’d taped off the air in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Mike Boulan converted them to digital sound files at No Cover Studio and I started editing them into one-hour episodes for broadcast on Radio Free Amsterdam, of which this is the second installment with music by Erskine Hawkins, Eddie Burns, A.C. Reed, Joe Hunter, Little Milton, Otis Rush, Lynn White, Jimmy Forrest, Dorothy Moore, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Denise LaSalle, Albert Collins, the Butler Twins, Little Joe Blue, Willie D. Warren, and Sonny Boy Williamson.
