Produced by John Sinclair for WWOZ Radio in 1994, Dr John’s Mardi Gras Special was the station’s first production to be broadcast nationally and featured “live” music by the Re-Birth Brass Band, Guardians of the Flame, Eddie Bo, Snooks Eaglin, Little Queenie, Al Johnson with Tommy Ridgley’s Untouchables, Bo Jocque & the Zydeco Hi-Rollers, Tom Worrell, Regal Brass Band, Dr John & Tommy Ridgley, Chuck Carbo, Deacon John’s Creole Blues Revue, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the Golden Eagles, and the First Revolution Singers—all recorded in performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Piano Night at Tipitina’s, the Alabama Jubilee in Montgomery AL and the WWOZ Mardi Gras Party in Armstrong Park. The Sinclair On The Air show is heard every Saturday night at midnight over Salto Wereld Radio-99.4 FM and Cable 104.6 as a service of Radio Free Amsterdam.
