HIGHWAY 61 WITH SCOTT BARRETTA – Is an award-winning one-hour blues program made in Oxford MS for the Mississippi Public Broadcasting network. Each episode offers an in-depth investigation into the music of a particular artist, region, blues institution or other topic of interest to serious blues lovers. Scott Barretta is the former editor of Living Blues magazine and director (with Jim O’Neal) of the Blues Landmarks program of the State of Mississippi.
The first episode of Scott Bearretta’s Highway 61 program from Mississippi Public Broadcasting on Radio Free Amsterdam features the music of the late Rev. Robert Wilkins &#038; his son, Rev. John Wilkins of the North Mississippi hill country, with classic recordings and live performances plus contributions by the Rolling Stones and the Hunter’s Chapel Singers with Fred McDowell.

Each episode offers an in-depth investigation into the music of a particular artist, region, blues institution or other topic of interest to serious blues lovers. Scott Barretta is the former editor of Living Blues magazine and director (with Jim O&#8217;Neal) of the Blues Landmarks program of the State of Mississippi.
Scott Barretta presents a preview of the annual North Mississippi Hill Country Blues Picnic hosted by Kenny Brown over the 4th of July weekend by playing music recorded at the 2007 Picnic and other recordings by David Kimbrough, Dwayne Burnside, the Rising Star Fife &#038; Drum Band, Afrissippi, T-Model Ford, Robert “Wolfman” Balfour, Kenny Brown, Alvin Youngblood Hart, and Bobby Rush, plus historic sides from Hill Country Blues pioneers Mississippi Fred McDowell, R.L. Burnside, and Junior Kimbrough.

Scott Barretta is the former editor of Living Blues magazine and director (with Jim O&#8217;Neal) of the Blues Landmarks program of the State of Mississippi.
