My man Vito Laterza set us up to make a Joint Production of the John Sinclair Radio Show backstage at the Teatro del Fuoco, the former-firehouse-now-fine-theatre in the center of the small Apulian town of Foggia in the bootheel of Italy, where I was waiting to perform with Mark Ritsema as part of the Premio Matteo Salvatore. We played music by Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band, Bo Diddley, Charles Mingus and the artists performing with us that night: Ninni Maina & La Nuova Orchestra La Taverna del Gufo, Afel Bocoum & Alkibar from Mali, Davide van de Sfroos, and the late Matteo Salvatore himself.
