Bruce Pingree is commemorating the life and music of drummer Clyde Stubblefield who just passsed away at the age of 73 with recordings he made with James Brown, also the composer Leon Ware with recordings of his songs made by the Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Bobby Womack, and Ike & Tina Turner, and recordings by the pianist Horace Parlan with the Charles Mingus Jazz Workshop and in duet with Archie Shepp, and finally a cut to close the show by Mamie Smith from 1920.
