Tom Morgan is a writer, radio producer and webmaster living in New Orleans.
Tom’s opening set today features 1937-38 recordings by the Milt Hearth Trio with Milt on organ & vocals, Willie “The Lion” Smith countering on piano, Teddy Bunn on guitar & vocals, and the great O’Neill Spencer, drums & vocals. The spotlight turns to Europe with a series of 78s by American bands recorded in London, Barcelona and other hotspots: The Plantation Orchestra with trumpet star Johnny Dunn in London in 1926, Sam Wooding & His Chocolate Kiddies in Barcelona in 1929, Noble Sissle & His Orchestra in Middlesex 1929 and London in 1930, and James Boucher & His Jazz from Paris in 1930—all taken from a CD titled Black Jazz in Europe 1926-1930 on Jazz Time Records
